The Blues screeched out a win against the NHL’s best team.
For the second time this season against Vancouver, the struggling St. Louis Blues were able to find their physical energy and power play success to get back to winning ways Monday night.
Some quick notes on the game:
SAINT LOUIS…
– outshot VANCOUVER 34-25
– only committed one penalty (VANCOUVER 0/1 Power Play)
– went 2 for 5 on their power play chances (McDonald and Berglund)
– scored twice on the power play for the first time since December 16
Vancouver pulled goalie Roberto Luongo with over a minute to play and were denied a goal that referee Tim Peel called off immediately with 40 seconds remaining in the game.
The Canucks radio announcers were clearly unhappy with the officiating of the game–and particularly the way Henrik and Daniel Sedin were tested physically.
The win gives the ‘Note 59 total points–7 shy of the eighth playoff seed. They do not play again until Friday, February 18th against the Buffalo Sabres at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo.
