Daily Grind 3/22

***Stop talking about the NFL completely until the sport can actually sit down and agree to a new collective bargaining agreement. I am sick of hearing about a business when the business is currently shut down. Why is NFL Live even on television?

***Congratulations to St. Louis native Kyle McClellan for his outstanding work this spring resulting in his inevitable conquer of the 5th starting spot in the rotation. His line as of tonight in camp:

***NBA Playoffs are rapidly approaching the the Chicago Bulls are scoring a ton of points lately. On Monday, 3/21 they defeated the Sacramento Kings 132-92 and followed that with a road win over the Atlanta Hawks 114-81.

Point guard Derrick Rose is looking like a league MVP–at least according to Hawks fans whowere chanting those call letters with the Bulls leading 72-43 at half. Yes, half.

With the win, the Chicago Bulls surpassed the Boston Celtics with the best record in the Eastern Conference at 51-19.

***The St. Louis Blues have dropped 4 of their last 5 including tonight’s loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. They finish 1-3 on their western road swing (LA, ANA,SJ, PHX).

The team led 1-0 after the first period but allowed 2 goals in the second period and were unable to score again.

Here are some season stats:

It’s disappointing because of the expectations we had coming into the season for the young group. They started 8-1 and were looking like the type of team that had taken a big step. Unfortunately injuries to David Perron, T.J. Oshie, and Andy McDonald were too much for the team to overcome.

The Blues have 9 games remaining in 2011 and will unfortunately miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season. Thanks for reading.
