The Rams lost to the New York Giants Monday Night. Here is a review of my keys to the game.
A review of my key matchups going into the game:
1. Sam Bradford
Sam threw for 331 yards including one beautiful touchdown pass to Danario Alexander. He also went 1-4 in red-zone opportunities. Impossible to win in the NFL scoring field goals.
2. Giants rushing
Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jacobs, and Danny Ware gashed the Rams defense for a combined 131 total yards. Jacobs scored a back-breaking touchdown.
3. Rams wide receivers
Pathetic showing. I am not sure what else to say here. Why is Danario Alexander not on the field for more plays? 3 receptions for 122 yards with one TD. He set up 2 other red-zone chances. Greg Salas was god awful, again. His crucial mistake came on special teams when he fumbled a punt which set up the Giants’ first touchdown.
4. Cadillac Williams
Williams had one of the most baffling plays of the night. A dropped lateral pass that Giants linebacker Michael Boley returned for a defensive touchdown. Aside from that blemish, an unspectacular 13 rushing attempts for 36 yards. Underachieving offensive line play continues to be a problem.
5. Big Stage
Team played like a young football team. Penalties, dropped passes, costly turnovers. Overall it was a lack of attention to details. Fundamental problems.
6. Cornerback
Bradley Fletcher played pretty well despite a costly 4th down pass interference call that was questionable. (Giants TD) Justin King had a long day. The kid just can’t play in this league. How long do Rams fans have to suffer with his poor performances. Al Harris and Quentin Mikell had a coverage mix-up on Mario Manninghams 31 yard reception that should have been a TD had he not stumbled.
7. Spagnuolo returns
The defense played OK. The unit looked tired at times, but they were on the field for almost 35 minutes. They had Eli Manning flustered in the first half but the Giants adjusted and began hitting the hot reads on blitzes. Coaching continues to be a question mark … Where is Danario!!!!
