The Rams choose a General Manager…from the same organization as the one they just canned.
The Rams hiring of Les Snead as their general manager is an intriguing choice. Snead held a variety of roles during his 13 years with the Atlanta Falcons organization. Snead was GM Thomas Dimitroff’s right-hand man most recently.
I say intriguing because Snead replaces Billy Devaney, who also came from the Atlanta Falcons’ front office.
Snead has worked with a variety of head coaches including Dan Reeves, Bobby Patrino, Jim Mora Jr., and Mike Smith.
Tom Coughlin initially hired Snead as a scout in 1995 for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Snead is 37 years old…15 years younger than the grizzled Jeff Fisher. He played college ball at Auburn and was part of the 1993 team that finished 11-0.
The Falcons have largely developed their current roster through the draft, an area in which Snead oversaw at both the pro and collegiate level.
What they’re saying:
Time will tell. Any decision Jeff Fisher makes, I am on board.
Rams Free Agents
Talk about a weak crop. Literally, aside from Brandon Lloyd, let ‘em all walk.
DE C.J. Ah You, WR Danny Amendola, TE Billy Bajema, OG Jacob Bell, S James Butler, LB Chris Chamberlain, WR Mark Clayton, QB Kellen Clemens, QB A.J. Feeley, DT Gary Gibson, OL Adam Goldberg, CB Rod Hood, P Donnie Jones, LB Bryan Kehl, CB Justin King, OT Mark LeVoir, WR Brandon Lloyd, RB Jerious Norwood, LB Brady Poppinga, TE Stephen Spach, RB Cadillac Williams, G/C Tony Wragge
Let Steve Spagnuolo “go to battle” with these guys in New Orleans. This list is almost humorous. I wonder which guys Devaney would want to retain? Actually, no. Yuck.
Here, listen to coach praise.
